Abstract    It is controversial whether to choose elective surgery or watchful waiting for asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic elderly inguinal hernia patients. It is suggested that for elderly inguinal hernia patients diagnosed clearly, the first choice should be inguinal hernia repair if there are no symptoms or mild symptoms. Surgeons must fully assess the cardiorespiratory function of patients, control potential infection as far as possible, and carefully choose anesthesia and surgical methods. Surgeons should give an understanding to the elderly patients and their families who do not receive surgery, respect their choice and make necessary explanations.

摘要：

对无症状或症状轻微的老年腹股沟疝是选择择期手术还是观察等待，文献报道争议较多。建议对于明确诊断的老年腹股沟疝病人，首诊时即使无症状或轻微症状，首选择期行腹股沟疝修补手术治疗。对接受手术的病人必须做到充分评估病人心肺功能；尽可能控制潜在感染；谨慎地选择麻醉和手术方法。对不接受手术的老年病人和家属给予理解，尊重其意愿，并作必要交代。
