Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery, co-sponsored by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and China Medical University, was first published in 1981.

The editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery consists of over two hundred distinguished experts from 31 provinces (municipalities), autonomous regions, and special administrative regions across the country, who guide and assist in the editorial work.

The mission of the Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery is to be clinically oriented, emphasize practicality, and focus on integrating theory with practice, serving to enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic skills of clinical surgeons.

Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery primarily focuses on general surgery and features sections such as Editorial Commentary, Special Topic Discussions, Lectures and Reviews, Original Articles, Surgical Technique Discussions, Technical Improvements, Case Discussions, Case Reports, International Academic Trends and Advances, and Analysis of Clinical Lessons.
