Professor CHEN Xiao-ping
Born on June 14, 1953
Professor Chen Xiaoping graduated from the former Tongji Medical University in 1985, earning a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree.
He currently holds the positions of Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Director of the Institute of Organ Transplantation at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is also a Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor.
He holds significant concurrent positions, including Standing Committee Member and Leader of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Group within the Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association; Standing Director and Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (A-PHPBA); Standing Director of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA) and President of its China Chapter; and Vice President of the Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
His major awards include:
* 2004: Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for "Basic and Clinical Research on Hepatic Surgery."
* 2006: First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award nominated by the Ministry of Education and First Prize of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award, both for "Treatment and Molecular Biological Mechanisms of Portal Vein Tumor Thrombus in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma."
* 2005: Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award for "Establishing a Scientific and Innovative Surgery Teaching System Based on Renowned Teachers, Textbooks, and Courses."
* 2002: First Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award for "Series of Studies and Technical Improvements in Surgical Operations."
