Professor WANG Shen-ming
Born on December 1, 1953

Professor Wang Shenming graduated from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1989, earning a Doctorate (Ph.D.).

He currently serves as President of The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor.

His primary specialties and research focuses are:
*   Vascular Surgery: Including endovascular repair of aortic dissecting aneurysms, resection of abdominal aortic aneurysms, treatment of acute arterial embolism, chronic arterial occlusion, vasculitis, hemangiomas, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, and venous ulcers.
*   Thyroid Surgery: Diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases (e.g., hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, thyroiditis) and parathyroid diseases (e.g., hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism).
*   Breast Surgery.

Current Major Research Grants:
*   National High-Tech R&D Program (863 Program): Nanomaterial Biliary Stent
*   National High-Tech R&D Program (863 Program): Development of Small-Caliber Biological Artificial Blood Vessels with High Anticoagulant Properties and Induced Regeneration

    *   Experimental study on transplantation of tropoelastin gene-loaded vascular smooth muscle cells for load-bearing structural and functional regeneration of abdominal aortic aneurysm walls.
    *   Role of desmuslin gene in the pathogenesis of chronic venous insufficiency and its transcriptional regulation mechanism.
    *   Experimental study on recombinant pCK-mPTH gene system for treating hypoparathyroidism.
    *   Screening and cloning of genes associated with primary deep venous valve insufficiency.
