Abstract: Clinical features and choice of surgical approach for inguinal hernia in obese patients SHI He-kai,GU Yan.Department of General Surgery, Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Shanghai 200040,China Corresponding author: GU Yan,E-mail:yangu@fudan.edu.cn Abstract The incidence of inguinal hernia in obese patients is relatively low, but the recurrence and complications after groin hernia repair are higher than those of normal-weight patients. The rapidly increasing large obese population will inevitably affect the diagnosis and treatment of inguinal hernia patients, but so far there are still relatively few clinical studies on obesity combined with inguinal hernia, and there is a lack of high-level evidence research support. Therefore, based on the existing understanding, it is very important to fully understand the particularity of obesity combined with inguinal hernia, which is very important for improving the diagnosis and treatment effect of patients with obesity combined with inguinal hernia. Individualized selection of anesthesia and surgical procedure based on the patient characteristics, and taking different measures to effectively decrease weight before surgery, is of great significance for improving the treatment effect of groin hernia repair in obese patients and decreasing the occurrence of postoperative complications.
