Abstract    The International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) developed a definition and classification system of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) in 2005 and has been accepted universally. In 2016, the ISGPS updated the definition and classification system of POPF, attempting to eliminate the potentially “ambiguous” concepts in the previous version. The new definition and staging system is more concise and clear. It can lead to a more universally consistent evaluation of outcomes of POPF and provide clinicians with a more precious tool for clinical judgment.
