Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of functional suspension operation in patients with internal rectal prolapse. Methods The clinical features and therapeutic effects of 30 cases of internal rectal prolapse treated by functional suspension operation from March 2003 to June 2013 in Daping Hospital Affiliated to Third Military Medical University were analyzed retrospectively. Results There were 96.7% of cases with internal rectal prolapse in anatomic abnormalities corrected well, but the difficult defecation, anal bulge, anal discharge, pain, bleeding and other symptoms relief were not same. Conclusion It is suggested that correcting anatomic lesions is very sure by the functional suspension operation, but can not completely solve all the clinical symptoms very well. Postoperative comprehensive treatment can improve the cure rate of patients with internal rectal prolapse.
