Abstract About 40%-50% of colorectal cancer patients will develop hepatic metastases, which is one of the main reasons that lead to failure of long-time survival. Surgical treatment is still the only way to get long-term survival up to now. However, low rate of resection and high incidence of postoperative recurrence are still the dilemma of surgeons. With the deeper understanding of its biological characteristics, constant update of surgical theory and further cooperation of multidisciplinary treatment, there will be a significant improvement of clinical outcome for colorectal liver metastases.
