Critical appraisal of surgical indications for Crohn's disease ZHU Wei-ming. Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command PLA, Nanjing 210002, China
Abstract Crohn's disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease which is treated mainly by drugs, but the indications of surgery become demanding as the course of the disease prolonged. CD patients often bear risk factors when surgery is indicated because of prolonged disease course, and multidisciplinary team with gastroenterologist, surgeon and endoscopist is essential to ensure adequate assumption of treatment measures. When surgical measure is chosen, minimal invasiveness and damage control are the rule.
