Abstract Combined organs resection is a surgical treatment for locally advanced gastrointestinal tumors. Due to the complicated surgical technique, more severe iatrogenic trauma and uncertain prognosis, the operation indication should be strictly limited to prevent inappropriate decision of combined organs resection from over-treatment. Surgeons require sufficient evaluation through preoperative imaging, careful judgment of resectability intraoperatively, full familiarity with surgical anatomy and procedures of combined resection, well understanding of relevant postoperative complications, and also extensive perioperative management, so that combined organs resection could be more safe and efficient.
