Clinical application of fast track surgery and prevention and treatment of postoperative complications of gastrointestinal surgery LI You-sheng. Research Institute of General Surgery of PLA, Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command, Nanjing 210002, China
Abstract Fast track surgery (FTS) is defined as a coordinated perioperative approach aimed at reducing surgical stress, reducing complications, decreasing hospital stay and facilitating postoperative recovery. However, the incidence of postoperative complications underwent gastrointestinal surgery is still higher. In the future, in order to evaluate the effect of FTS programs, the grading and standardization of surgical complications should been applied. The key factors of FTS components such as fluid restriction and effective epidural analgesia should been furtherly investigated to reduce the incidence of postoperative complication further.
