Abstract Male breast cancer is a rare disease with a rise in the incidence. Treatment strategies for male breast cancer are derived from studies performed among females rather than randomized clinical studies. Surgery is usually mastectomy with axillary clearance or sentinel node biopsy. Tamoxifen is standard adjuvant therapy as most are strongly ER positive. Indications for adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy are similar to female breast cancer although more evidence is needed for appropriate regimens. The treatment of metastatic disease is mainly hormonal, but chemotherapy and anti-HER2 therapy can also provide palliation.
