Prevention and treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm open repair complication ZHAO Ji-chun. Division of Vascular Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu610041, China
Abstract Open repair with graft placement has been utilized to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms(AAAs) and is the standard procedure. The major risks in open AAA repair are still the risk of massive blood ,persistant unclamping hypotension, sigmoid colon ischemia and distal artery embolization during open AAA repairs but perioperative cardiac events and renal or respiratory failure. Elective open surgical AAA repair is a complex procedure with a 30-day mortality of 3%~5% and a complication rate of 15% to 20%.
