Abstract    Liver cancer is one of the most common malignancies in the world. Surgery still remains the mainstay of treatment offering a hope of cure. However,a high incidence of postoperative recurrence is universal and continues to be the main cause of death. Improvement of long-term survival is the problem to be solved for surgeons. Recent studies have shown that intraoperative blood loss and blood transfusion promote postoperative recurrence. Therefore,an effective strategy by which surgeons could reduce postoperative recurrence may be to minimize perioperative blood loss and transfusion.
