Abstract    There is difficulty in effective treatment for primary liver cancer with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT). Low resection rate and high postoperative recurrence rate are the main problems that affect the result of surgical resection and thrombectomy for primary liver cancer with PVTT. Classification of PVTT is useful to judge the prognosis of primary liver cancer with PVTT and guide the clinical management. Based on preoperative indications and correct surgical treatment, the combination anti-recurrence managements including radioactive interventional therapy, systemic chemotherapy, radiotherapy, 125I seed implantation therapy, molecular targeted therapy and immunotherapy are useful to improve the therapeutic effect.
