Abstract The application of technologies like genomics, proteomics and metabonomics has given rise to the rapid development of basic research on the study of liver cancer. Yet,it remains a dilemma about how to apply the achievements of basic research to the clinical practice, which is also the main aim of the translational medicine. The variation at the gene, epigenetic and protein levels in liver cancer makes it possible to discover new molecular bio-markers and provide new insights into the study of target therapy. The selection criteria of liver transplant donors for liver cancer, which was based on the imaging previously, will also transform to the combination of imaging and biological behavior of tumors. Based on the abundant clinical data of liver cancer in China,it is important to establish the clinical sample bank to provide a platform for the translational medicine system.
