Abstract With the application of the stapler, complications resulted from stapler have arisen. Stapler failure in upper digestive tract reconstruction surgery includes two conditions. One is stapler failure found during operation. The other is after operation. The former should be treated instantly during operation and observed closely. Anastomotic stricture of the latter should be treated by gastroscopic balloon dilation firstly. If the treatment is invalid, reoperation should be performed. Anastomotic leakage and bleeding should be managed by conservative treatment firstly. Reoperation should be performed based on patient’s condition.
