Impact of various reconstructions after surgery for upper digestive tract on quality of life ZHAN Wen-hua. Department of Surgery, the First Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510080, China
Abstract Reconstructions of upper digestive tract after surgery are commonly used in total gastrectomy, subtotal gastrectomy, distal and proximal gastrectomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy. It should be emphasized that the principle of reconstruction should be simple and feasible, beneficial to quality of lift of patients, and non-increasing morbidity and mortality. Digestion, absorption, motility and emptying of upper digestive tract are complex physiological mechanisms including factors of nerves, body fluid and hormones. Strictly speaking, primary complex anatomy and physiologic functions of upper digestive tract are unlikely be substituted by the artificial reconstruction after surgery.
