Abstract Objective To evaluate the short-term and long-term outcomes of the laparoscopic incisional hernia repair. Methods The clinical and follow-up data of 41 cases of laparoscopic incisional hernia repair performed from March 2006 to July 2011 at the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were analyzed retrospectively. Results All cases were performed by laparoscopy successfully with a mean operation time of 60 mins (45 to 150 mins) and a mean time of postoperative hospital-stay of 6 days (3 to 16days). All cases were followed up 25.6 months averagely (2 to 65 months). Seroma occurred in 4 cases. Eight cases had abdominal pain and most of the pain could be alleviated in 3-6 weeks. One case had mesh related infection and 2 cases recurred. Conclusion The laparoscopic incisional hernia repair is a safe and effective technique with the advantages of minor injury, quicker recovery, fewer complications and lower recurrences.
