Abstract    Objective    To investigate the clinical efficacy and feasibility of the double-layer three-dimensional patch in the treatment of acute incarcerated inguinal hernia in adults. Methods    The clinical data of 154 cases of adult acute incarcerated inguinal hernia admitted from January 2007 to November 2010 at the Fourth People's Hospital of Yuyao City were analyzed. Traditional hernia repair was performed in 81 cases (traditional group), and double-layer three-dimensional patch tension-free hernia repair was performed in 73 cases (tension-free group). The therapeutic efficacy was compared between the two groups. Results    The length of stay, postoperative pain, postoperative ambulation time, engaged in heavy physical activity time, and postoperative recurrence rate in tension-free group were better than those in the traditional group significantly. The difference was significant statistically (P<0.01). The was no significant difference in operative time, wound infection, incisional local redness, scrotal edema and urinary retention between two groups (P> 0.05). The foreign body sensation and subcutaneous hard section rate in tension-free group were higher than those in the traditional group significantly (P <0.01). Conclusion    The double-layer three-dimensional patch tension-free hernia repair can be choosed in the treatment of adult acute incarcerated inguinal hernia.
