Abstract    In the era of electrosurgery, monopolar or bipolar electrosurgical units and ultrasonic scalpel are widely used in thyroid surgery. They make the convenience in operation and benefits of minimally invasion. But at the same time, they also bring the risk of thermal injury. Surgeons should learn the mechanism of the devices and master the manipulation in thyroidectomy in order to avoid thermal injury-related complications.
