Abstract    Objective    To evaluate and analyze the modification of high ligation and stripping in the treatment of the great saphenous vein varicoses (GSV). Methods    Three hundreds and thirty-six patients (418 limbs in total) with GSV varisoses underwent modified high ligation and stripping in the Department of Vascular Surgery, Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University from April 2007 to February 2011 were involved in the study. The postoperative complications and recurrence were evaluated. Results    The average time of the surgery for every limb was about 73 minutes. The incidence rate of the postoperative complications was about 1.9%. The symptoms of the patients after the surgery relieved significantly. There was no recurrence after 3 to 12 months follow-up. Conclusion    The modified ligation and stripping in the treatment of the GSV varicoses is an effective method with fewer complications than the conventional surgery.
