Causes and reoperation strategies for congenital biliary dilatation CHEN Ru-fu. Department of Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510120, China
Abstract There are many kinds of reason for the reoperation of congenital biliary dilatation (CBD), which include the missed or improper preoperative diagnosis, improper surgical options, incomplete resection, severe postoperative complications and laparoscopic misoperation. Because it is difficult for reoperation, to select the appropriate timing and operation after making clear the reason of reoperation is the key to success. Complete cyst resection and biliary reconstruction are still the preferred surgical treatments.
