Abstract    Translational medicine or research is a new concept emerged in recent years, but the phenomenon of translational medicine actually exists a long time ago. The rapid evolutions in modern science have generated a tremendous spectrum of new technologies and tools in both basic and clinical research/medicine. Meanwhile, out of joint is rising between basic research and clinical application with low translational efficiency. The emphasis, nowadays, on translational medicine is of momentous current significance and far-reaching historical significance. General surgery has been benefited consumedly from translational medicine in recent years. Practitioners should pay attention to strengthening training, participating and promoting on translational medicine to meet the requirements of public health.
