Abstract    In 1992, it was first proposed in Science that medical research should follow the mode of “ bench to bedside ”. Translational medicine is the totally new concept in Lancet in 1995 which could basically eliminate the barrier between basic medicine and clinical medicine, and shorten the process of “bench to bedside” . In this article, the changes of recognition therapeutic principles of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) in every stage reflect the great role of “Translational Medicine”. Every change in the concept of treatment has improved the curative effect of SAP. Therefore, the history of treatment of SAP is actually a history of “Translational medicine”.
