Abstract Laparoscopic radical gastrectomy has a nearly 20 years’ history. Nowadays, application of laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for early gastric cancer has been made in the consensus at home and abroad. The operation has already achieved good clinical efficacy in advanced gastric cancer. But it still needs the results of multi-center prospective randomized controlled study to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of laparoscopic surgery. Only surgeon chose the right surgical cases and followed the principles of radical cancer surgery strictly, laparoscopic radical gastrectomy can be done with not only the advantages of minimally invasive, but also the similar long-term effect compared with the open surgery.
