Abstract Objective To investigate the reasons and treatment of iatrogenic bile duct injury. Methods The clinical data of 18 patients with bile duct injury treated from 1997 to 2010 in People’s Hospital of Shanxi Province were analyzed retrospectively. Results All patients were performed cholecystectomy complicated with bile duct injury above the common hepatic duct. All patients were cured by one or more than one operations. No bile duct stricture occurred during the follow up period of 1-5 years. Conclusion The key to improve the prognosis of bile duct injury is prevention and treatment in proper time and in correct way.
