Abstract    Although the five-year survival rate of patients with colorectal cancer has improved, there are still 33% of patients performed radical resection of rectal cancer who will face the threat of local recurrence. The treatment of the patients presented to oncology doctors great challenges. The surgical treatment of combined organ resection is still the main treatment method to improve five-year survival rate. R0 resection is the most powerful prognostic factor. Abdomen-sacral combined organ resection with exorbitant complication incidence and mortality rate and no significant prolongation of survival has been abandoned by many surgeons. Preoperative and intraoperative chemoradiotherapy combined with surgery in the multidisciplinary treatment could improve R0 resection of locally recurrent rectal cancer.
