Abstract With the widespread acceptance of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), the number of cases of unsuspected gallbladder carcinoma (UGC) has increased. High age and history of gallbladder stones are the risk factors for gallbladder carcinoma and they are related to UGC. Surgical handling and pneumoperitoneum play an important role in the metastasis. Early diagnosis is the key to the surgical treatment of gallbladder carcinoma. Different surgical operations should adopted according to different stages of gallbladder carcinoma. The tumor stage is the most important prognostic factor.
