Abstract Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) account for a substantial portion of the risks related to surgery and anesthesia. PPC could result from physical fitness of patients, surgery and anesthesia. The risk may be decreased if any reversible causes can be treated in advance especially for the patients with respiratory dysfunction. Appropriate anesthetic approach, anesthetic management and postoperative analgesia should be considered according to different situation.
