Abstract    Progressively, general surgery enters the era of evidence based medicine. The current evidence based research in general surgery is not only few, but also of low quality. Surgeons need to pay more attention to evidence based medical research, but more importantly, effectively utilize available evidence and data. Detailed analysis of evidence is crucial, so that these principals could be properly applied on suitable situation and in suitable patients.
