Abstract    Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremities and pulmonary embolism (PE) are called  venous thromboembolism.They are regarded as different performances of same pathological progress and common clinical syndromes. Early diagnosis is very important to the treatment. There are many diagnostic methods includes plasma D-dimer, artery blood gas analysis , electrocardiogram， chest x-ray film, doppler ultrasound, radionuclide venography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, digital substraction angiography and so on. Each method has its own advantage and shortcoming.
