Abstract Thyroid nodules are a common kind of thyroid disease, whose standardized diagnosis and treatment should be carried out according the academic guidelines as well as clinical experience, combining the symptom, history, sign, laboratory examination and auxiliary examination. With the discovery of thyroid nodules, thyroid function should be tested, and after imaging examinations, an initial assessment for cause and nature of the nodules could be acquired. Finally, fine needle aspiration or surgical biopsy is required if the nodules are suspicious for thyroid cancer, and then one can stratify the patients to different classifications and give them corresponding treatments.
