Abstract    Objective    Analysis the value of single incision totally extraperitoneal approach for inguinal hernia repair. Methods    During the time of Nov 2009 to Feb 2010，20 cases of inguinal hernia were repaired by single incision totally extraperitoneal approach(SITEP) with polyethylene mesh(10cm×15cm). At the same time, 25 groin hernia patients  were repaired by TEP approach. Operative time, hospital time, recurrence rates and complications were analyzed. Results    The average operating time was (65.3±22.8)min (SITEP group) vs (47.4±14.9)min(TEP group), Mean postoperative hospital stay time was (2.0±1.1) days (SITEP group) vs( 1.5±0.8) days(TEP group), there were two cases with complications in each group. No recurrent case occurred. Conclusion    SITEP approach with polyethylene mesh is safe and eligeable.
