The comprehensive treatment of metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors LOU Wen-hui. Department of General Surgery, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China
Abstract Neuroendocrine gastroenteropancreatic tumours are rare. Except insulinoma, majority of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are metastatic when diagnosis. Simultaneous resetion of primary and metastatic lesion is indicated for patients without contraindication. When metastases are not eligible for surgical treatment, intraaterial embolization/chemoembolization,radiofrequency,chemotherapy and somatostatin analogue are treatment options. By comprehensive treatment, the 5 year survival of patients could reach 60-80% and two year symptom control rate approaches 90%. The role of liver transplantation still needs to be evaluated.
