Abstract    Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PETs),as a member of Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, were fairly rare neoplasms which origin was considered to be the neuroendocrine cells secreting multiple hormones and amines substance. According to the symptoms related to the secreting hormones, the PETs were divided into two subgroups: functional PETs which could be diagnosed easily according to their distinct clinical manifestation related to the secreting hormones ,and nonfunctional PETs which were often misdiagnosed with pancreatic cancer and other malignant tumors. The surgical resection of  PETs could supply long time survival for patients that encouraged aggressive surgical procedure for treatment of PETs, and even for the malignant PETs and metastatic PETs. With much more accumulation of clinical practices and knowledge of entity of PETs, there was great improvement in the diagnosis, management, therapeutic approaches and prognosis  for PETs.
