Abstract The anatomic variations and pathological changes of pancreaticobiliary junction are closely related to acute/chronic pancreatitis, and the biliopancreatic reflux is noted as an etiological factor. Biliopanceratic reflux is mainly diagnosed by endoscope and imaging. The pathophysiology of biliopancreatic reflux in patients with acute/chronic pancreatitis remains unclear. In recent years, the clinical implications between pancreatitis and biliopancreatic reflux (caused by pancreaeticobiliary maljunction, high confluence of pancreaticobiliary ducts and cholelithiasis) were studied. The current management of biliopancreatic reflux includes various methods, and the endoscopic technique has an increasing advantage.
