Abstract    For recurrent and metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumor（GIST）patients, the standard of care is imatinib and surgical removal of the residual lesions is an option in highly selected patients. The use of imatinib as a neoadjuvant and adjuvant protocol is an emerging treatment choice, but further clinical investments are strongly warranted.
