Compared to laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer, laparoscopic gastrectomy is more complex and technically more difficult, duing to the surgical procedure including separation of a wide range of gastric tissues, radical lymph node dissection and effective reconstruction of digestive tract. Therefore the techniques develop slowly.
