Abstract  Surgery for obesity and metabolic disease obesity, gradually, has already been one of the most serious society-facing problems.  In 2000, Changhai Hospital took the lead of the first LVBG. we also did laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Bypass, Mini Bypass, Sleeve, etc. And all of them got good effects. We claimed that our surgery is more than cosmetic surgery, but to treat it as a kind of disease which would bring varied complications. With the convincing research and evidence, we found that gastrointestinal surgery not only can cause weigh loss, but can relieve, even cure many metabolic diseases associated with obesity, such as T2DM, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Currently, the treatment abroad has already shifted their attention from weight loss to the effect of treating the metabolic syndrome. And most of these operations could be done with laparoscopy.
