Abstract Perioperative managements are complicated when surgical patients have coagulation disorders. Among the coagulation assays, PT and APTT are more significant in evaluating preoperative coagulation function. Surgeons may not be familiar with the management process for abnormal results from the tests (PT, APTT) in preoperative screening. In the review, the possible factors and systemic diseases affecting the tests are discussed and practical approaches in clinical management according to different abnormality are introduced. The instruction of interpreting and processing various coagulant tests is also suggested.
