Abdominal vascular trauma results from penetrating, blunt, or iatrogenic injuries. Essential to the successful management of the injuries is a thorough knowledge of the complex anatomy of abdominal vascular structures and a familiarity with the techniques of proximal and distal control combined with selected application of primary repair, bypass, and/or ligation. The presentation reviews the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of major abdominal vascular injuries.
