Role of open surgical repair in abdominal aortic aneurysm CHEN Zhong, YANG Yao-guo. Department of Vascular Surgery , Beijing Anzhen Hospital ,Capital Medical University, Beijing100029, China Corresponding author : CHEN Zhong ,E-mail :chenzhong 8658@vip.sina.com Abstract Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is the most common type of aneurysms. AAA has a tendency to grow and burst causing life threatening bleeding. Treatment of AAA has been ongoing for many years through open surgical repair (OR) of the dilated artery. Within the last several decads years a new approach to treating aortic aneurysms has been developed. It is the endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) approach that is devealoped rapidly in the area. Through clinical trials and meta-analysis of domestic and overseas, both of methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Although the technique improved, range of treatment enlarged and less complications of EVAR, OR has non-fungible position for experiences and clinic results of home and abroad.
