Department of General Surgery, General Hospital of Chinese PLA, Beijing 100853, China Corresponding author: CHEN Lin, E-mail:chenlinbj@vip.sina.com Abstract Gastric stump carcinoma (GSC) is defined as a carcinoma occurring in the gastric remnant at least 5 years after surgery for benign peptic ulcer disease. Carcinomas in the gastric stump occurring are thought to have a different mechanism of carcinogenesis including age, gender, postoperative time interval, type of operation, HP infection, duodenogastric reflux and less gastrin, etc. Due to the factors, it should adopt some protective measures so as to avoid the occurance of GSC.
