Methods Clinical data of 231 patients of small bowel obstruction chosed from Department of General Surgery ,First People’s Hospital of Chenzhou in Janury 2004～June 2008 were studied retrospectively, wich were divided into lipiodol group(163 cases)and cardiografin group(68 cases). Contrast agent was injected into the nasogastric tube , then followed abdominal X-dynamic observation .Inversgation was made on the consistency between whether the lipiodol reach colon after 24 hours injection and whether to perform final surgical therapy on patients, Kappa analysis of the consistency was made .Abdominal radiography results of the two groups in 6，12，24，36h were observed. Results The lipiodol group: the Kappa score is 0.946,the masculine gender rat of lipiodol is 100% at 6h, 98.8% at 12h, 93.9%at 24h, 80.7% at 36h.But the rats of cardiografin group are 100%,95.6%,85.2%,and 34.0% .Conclusion The lipiodol enterography is a valuble way of diagnosising small bowel obstruction. It has important-guiding singnificance in the timing-choice of operation.
