Application of diagnostic laparoscopy in the diagnosis of intraabdominal diseases LIANG Ping. Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Xinqiao Hospital of the Third Military Medical University, Chongqing 400015, China Abstract The diagnostic laparoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnosis method for intraabdominal diseases. The procedure enables (1) direct inspection of large surface areas of intraabdominal organs; (2) facilitate the acquisition of biopsy specimens, cultures, and aspirates; (3) allow the use of laparoscopic ultrasound; (4) make therapeutic intervention possible. Diagnostic laparoscopy has been applied for acute nonspecific abdominal pain, trauma, and acute abdomen in the critically ill patient at acute conditions.
