Abstract    Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common complication and one of the important causes of death in surgical patients. Risk factors of VTE mainly include the patient related factors (such as age, obesity, cancer and infection, etc.) and surgery related factors (such as operation duration, operation type and operation method, etc.). In recent years, though the incidence of VTE has decreased with the improvement of perioperative VTE administration guidelines, Clinicians should still be vigilant and know the risk factors clearly to identify and prevent early, avoiding the occurrence of pulmonary embolism and other serious adverse events.
