Abstract  Surgical wound management is significantly important to wound healing. Debridement is essential for wound management. The concept of debridement has changed several times, now it is a kind of process for wound bed preparation. There are several common debridement methods including surgical, autolytic, enzymatic, biological and mechanical debridement. Now combined debridement is recommended. It is difficult to make proper choice of debridement methods in order to get smooth healing. Proper disinfectants and antibiotics can be used in debridement.
