Abstract Parastomal hernia is a common complication of patients living with an enterostomy. In severe cases, incarceration and strangulation may occur, and emergency surgery is necessary and challenging to deal with, requiring an experienced hernia surgeon to manage. The incidence of perioperative complications, especially the mortality rate,of incarcerated and strangulated parastomal hernia is very high. It is of great importance to stress patient education, ensuring early intervention and selective repairment to diminish the occurance of this event.
