Abstract    The function of the gallbladder is to store and concentrate bile. Because of the high incidence of diseases such as gallstones，laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become the golden treatment standard of cholecystolithiasis. However，it cannot preserve the gallbladder’s function，and may induce chronic diarrhea, proximal colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Although gallstone removal with preserving the gallbladder has theoretic rationality，it needs more high grade evidences to support its rationality. Evidence based medicine is needed to verify the advantages and disadvantages，Neither the opinion of cholecystectomy in every gallstone patient nor that of preserving gallbladder without appropriate indication should be obeyed.
